Premiere: The Long Hunt ‘Spine Of Dusk’ – New Album ‘Natural Order’ Drops 18th July
Get ready to be consumed by the slow-burning inferno of Spine Of Dusk from Pittsburgh’s three-piece instrumental titans, The Long Hunt. With a sound forged in the deepest caverns of doom, drone and heavy psych, the track draws you into a twilight realm where riffs unravel like ancient spells and rhythms pulse with primal weight.

From the first note, The Long Hunt conjure a ritualistic atmosphere that feels both timeless and otherworldly and as guitarist Trevor Richards says, ‘Like several songs in our repertoire, Spine Of Dusk is born out of my fascination with musical minimalism, classic rock, and a personal goal of trying to shoehorn as much ‘twang’ into the sound as I can while still maintaining some semblance of heavy’.
He further explains, ‘Thematically, a lot of our songs and albums are inspired by death and the night, this one leaning more towards the later. Head out to the desert or the mountains on a clear night and look up. If you’re lucky enough to be far away from the glow of civilization, you might spot a band of stars stretching across the sky. That’s the Milky Way galaxy. That’s the spine of dusk.’
Spine Of Dusk isn’t just a song, it’s a journey into the shadowed edge of consciousness, where sound becomes vision and distortion becomes prophecy. Now click play below and let it swallow you whole…
More On The Long Hunt And ‘Natural Order’
The Long Hunt is a three-piece instrumental doom, drone, heavy-psych band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The group is known for blending sparse minimalism and textured drones with hard-hitting guitar riffs and memorable melodies.
The music is both adaptable and dynamic, able to shift in volume and mood at a moment’s notice. With live shows often accompanied with samples, lights, and projected images, the band strives to create an immersive experience for the audience.

In many philosophical and spiritual traditions, the number 4 is associated with the four elements: earth, air, fire, and water, which are seen as foundational to the world and physical nature. It’s a number often linked to order, structure, and natural cycles, such as the four seasons and the four phases of the moon. With these themes in mind, The Long Huntis proud to present their fourth record, Natural Order.
Building upon the foundation set from previous work, the band expands its signature all-instrumental sound across eight new tracks of post-psychedelic drone-doom. Dense fuzzed-out guitars give way to sparse interludes and textured minimalism, with driving bass and drums creating a firmament that encapsulates sprawling sonic landscapes. The exclusion of vocals and lyrics allows ample space for the listener to create their own worlds to explore.

The album was recorded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the Spring of 2024 by Matt Very (Very Tight Recordings) and Trevor Richards. Mastered by Dave Polster at Well Made Music in Bristol, Virginia. Limited vinyl release pressed through Hellbender Vinyl.
