Premiere: SALVATION ‘Depression’ – New Album ‘The Haunted’ Lands On 16th October

Chicago noise-rock miscreants SALVATION return with a blistering new entry from their upcoming fifth album, The Haunted, set for release on 16th October via Reptilian Records. Today, The Shaman is thrilled to host the premiere for Depression, a track that pairs the band’s signature wall-of-sound amplification with an unfiltered, visceral look at internal struggle.

Fusing heavy-hitting noise-rock with a gritty punk and grunge edge, it captures the trio operating at peak power, driven by thundering low-ends, punishing percussion, and raw, emotive vocals. The accompanying video – directed and produced by SWZ, with live videography by AJE Subsist Studio – visually amplifies the track’s chaotic energy.

Guitarist/vocalist Jason Sipe writes, ‘I really enjoyed leaning into the challenge of taking on what I felt was an honest depiction of the struggle that is depression… while navigating the truths and lies of getting through it. And that’s the important part… getting through it, telling others the madness will subside and you’ll be OK.’

He continues, ‘I also enjoyed the challenge and opportunity to express myself that way in the form of a punk song with two slammin’, badass band members to do it with, and help craft the explosion of sound it became. Being in this band is more fun than Christmas Morning… and that’s coming from a kid that has Depression. For lovers of all things blues, punk, noise-rock, breathing, and The Twilight Zone.’

More On SALVATION & ‘The Haunted’

The noisemongering miscreants at Reptilian Records presents The Haunted, the slamming fifth LP by Chicago-based noise-rock trio SALVATION.

Since the release of their first album in 2015, SALVATION has hammered the masses with a pummeling brew of infectious racket blending the enduring traits of noise-rock with a touch of more accessible grunge approach, stacked with hooks and even more amplification, resulting in blown-out glory, spiraling downward like a party on the last night on Earth.

Moments of their songs invoke Nirvana’s sweet, melodic annihilation, others verge on the unhinged twang of Lollipop or Cows. Drummer Brian Wnukowski (Big’n) hammers the skins like he’s avenging an unforeseen crime while bassist Victor Riley fleshes out the thundering low-end, and guitarist/vocalist Jason Sipe holds court with a formidable voice – a mix of power and pain, confidence and vulnerability, he commands attention with every holler and howl.

Their first three albums Royal Fucks (2015), Sore Loser (2017), and Year Of The Fly (2019) were released through Forge Again Records, after which SALVATION joined with the long-running Reptilian Records for the 2022 release of their fourth album, Mock.
