Video Premiere: ORT ‘Bodden Dub’ – ‘Sperrwerk’ 10″/CD Out Now Via My Proud Mountain

Seismic three-piece ORT return with Bodden Dub, a deep reworking of their track Heuvel / Bodden that features on the 10”/CD release of Sperrwerk that’s out now via My Proud Mountain.

Stretching close to thirteen minutes, this dub remix opens up the original’s textures into an expansive, slow-burning journey, balancing weighty bass currents with drifting atmospheres. The track pushes ORT’s sound into new territory while keeping a strong connection to the raw pulse at the heart of their music.

About the track, drummer Sïmon Dümpelmann says, ‘Giving a passage of Heuvel / Bodden some sort of dub-inspired de and reconstruction treatment absolutely made sense, since vague influences from something like Blind Idiot God playing dubby tunes on their records, in some way or form, at least for me, may have also informed what became said piece. Which probably doesn’t translate to the outside listener that much, but to me it’s in there.’

Presented through the transformed vision of Verena Gräler, the video extends Bodden Dub into a realm where sound and image dissolve into one another. Her reworked visuals shift and flow with the track’s slow-burning momentum, creating a dreamlike correspondence between rhythm and form. What emerges is less a video than a living, breathing environment—an audiovisual landscape that draws the listener deeper into ORT’s expansive dub universe.

Immersive and meditative, the piece invites the listener to drift into its tidal pull, losing track of time in ORT’s extended dub landscape…

More On ORT And Sperrwerk

The release of Sperrwerk closes ORT’s first creative cycle of different physical releases since 2020. The vinyl version of the record consists of two compositions, which allude to motifs / themes from previous ORT releases but make them appear in a completely new light.

While the song La Reprise is one of the band’s most elaborated compositions yet, travelling through melancholic moods at a partially rapid pace, the song Heuvel / Bodden showcases another side of the trio, taking it’s time almost meditatively, spaciously breezing air on the back of a playfully punching rhythm section, before dwelling into a heavy-psychedelic finale.

All that in a typically rough ORT fashion, which sees the music captured while the band actually plays live together in the recording studio, instead of going down the route of a polished ‘puzzle production’.

The CD Version differs from the 10″, as Heuvel / Bodden doesn’t end like the vinyl, but seamlessly leads into the more experimental, self-explanatory titled bonus track Bodden Dub.

A practice, which has become an ORTtradition, considering that the B-Sides of their 7” inch single trilogy already consisted of remix versions, as well as the vinyl release of Maschinenhafen limited edition.
