Video Premiere: Desert Storm ‘Law Unto Myself’ – Taken From New Album That Drops 6th March
Oxford’s very own heavy hitters, Desert Storm, are revving up the engine once again with the premiere of their latest track, Law Unto Myself. Taken from their upcoming full-length Buried Under The Weight Of Reason, dropping on 6th Marchvia Heavy Psych Sounds, the latest single captures the band doing what they do best: finding that gritty sweet spot in the heavy underground. It’s a sound that refuses to settle, boasting the crushing weight of sludge, the groove of stoner rock, all encapsulated in the raw, driving force of doom metal.

Accompanying the release is a striking black-and-white lyric video that visually underscores the track’s confrontational energy. Through a spliced montage of footage featuring riot police, protests, and civil unrest, the video creates a universal narrative of resistance. It serves as a gritty reflection of the track’s title, perfectly setting the stage as the band reflects, saying…
‘Law Unto Myself is a groove driven blast of raw and unfiltered rock n roll defiance. Rejecting authoritarian control and institutional power, pushing back against obedience enforced through fear. Rooted in underground and anarchic spirit, a refusal to submit and a demand for personal sovereignty. Direct, confrontational, and unapologetic.’
Witness the resistance and hit play below to unleash the raw defiance of Law Unto Myself…
More on Desert Storm & ‘Buried Under The Weight Of Reason’
Desert Storm are a formidable force in British heavy metal. Hailing from Oxford, England, the band formed in 2007 and have since carved out a reputation for their genre-defying blend of stoner, sludge, post-metal, and doom.
Now, 19 years deep into their journey, they remain impossible to pigeonhole – constantly evolving, yet unmistakably Desert Storm. If you’re drawn to titanic riffs, intricate sonic textures, and vocals that balance ferocity with raw emotion, Desert Storm deliver that and more.

Recorded at Woodworm Studios in Oxfordshire and mixed/mastered by Joe Clayton of Pijn at Nø Studio, their forthcoming album Buried Under The Weight Of Reason is the anticipated follow-up to 2023’s acclaimed Death Rattle. Released worldwide via the renowned European label Heavy Psych Sounds – home to legends like Pentagram and Bongzilla – the record marks a bold step forward for the mighty foursome.
Buried Under The Weight Of Reason is both punishing and transcendent. The sound is massive, raw and unforgiving, yet layered with moments of elation and electrical ecstasy. Desert Storm continue to push boundaries with a sound that’s as heavy as it is honest and cathartic.
