Video Premiere: TESA – Second Excerpt From ‘TESA MAN’ Marks Today’s Release Of ‘INTERVAL’
Following Wednesday’s premiere of an excerpt built around INTERVAL 1, TESA return with a second glimpse into TESA MAN, this time centred on INTERVAL 4, to mark the release of the full four-track album today, Friday 3rd April 2026, via My Proud Mountain.
Drawn once again from the music film that opened the Riga International Film Festival 2024, the new excerpt offers another entry point into the band’s immersive world, where sound, image, and atmosphere converge with striking effect.

Now out in full, INTERVAL finds TESA continuing to refine their singular language of weight, space, and restraint, and this latest excerpt offers a powerful visual counterpart to that vision. Where Wednesday introduced the opening movement, today’s instalment shifts the focus, extending the album’s elemental and transportive reach in a form that feels both cinematic and deeply physical.
About the film and its concept, the band states, ‘TESA MAN is a poetic exploration of the relationship between collective creativity and the natural world. Blurring the boundaries between reality and imagination, the film invites the viewer into an animistic experience: music performed by TESA in a frozen Baltic landscape attempts to transform air, steam, ash, and clay into something more alive.’

More On TESA & ‘INTERVAL’
With INTERVAL, TESA release their seventh studio album, once again reaffirming their distinctive position within the European instrumental and heavy music scene. Two decades after their formation, the band continues to move deliberately beyond trends, genres, and short-lived expectations. Instead, TESA focus on reduction, consistency, and an intense exploration of sound, space, and silence.
INTERVAL unfolds as a precisely constructed sonic landscape comprising four extended compositions. Heavy riffs, dense rhythms, and atmospheric textures stand alongside moments of restraint and stillness. The music derives its impact not from constant escalation, but from controlled tension, dynamics, and patience. Every sound is placed with intention; every pause forms an integral part of the composition.

INTERVAL was recorded at Hodila Studio in Valmiera, Latvia – the band’s long-standing creative hub. In close collaboration with producer, engineer, and studio owner Ģirts Laumanis, TESA shaped a sound that feels raw, clear, and profound at once. This continuous partnership, dating back to the band’s first recordings in 2005, has been instrumental in defining their sonic identity and lends INTERVAL a remarkable sense of cohesion.
Mastering was handled by James Plotkin, known for his work with artists such as SUNN O))), Earth, Electric Wizard, and Tim Hecker. His approach enhances the album’s spatial depth and dynamic range without softening its physical intensity. The result is a sound that feels both immediate and meditative, precisely conveying the music’s emotional tensions.

TESA have also earned a reputation as an exceptional live act. Through extensive touring – including performances alongside Neurosis – they have become known for intense, immersive shows. Enhanced by visual projections, their concerts transcend the conventional live experience, creating an atmosphere that is almost physically tangible. Music, light, and space merge into a powerful and enveloping experience that draws audiences deep into TESA’s world.
INTERVAL is not an album that demands attention – it invites it. It rewards patience and leaves space for personal interpretation. Heavy and direct, yet sensitive in its use of silence, the album finds TESA at the height of their artistic maturity. A timeless work that confirms the band as one of the defining voices of Latvian instrumental rock over the past two decades.
